Wednesday, September 20, 1972Mrs. John Severns Dies At 77 Years
Mrs. John Severns of Winterset died Sunday, Sept. 17, at Madison Manor South here. She was 77 years of age.
Mrs. Severns was a life-time resident of Madison county. She was the former Lucy Pearl McCleary, daughter of Frank and Ida Mae Walker McCleary, and was born May 24, 1895. In 1913 she was married to John Severns, who survives her.
Much of her life was spent in Union township, but she and her husband moved to Winterset in 1955. She was a practical nurse and was employed at Memorial hospital for 10 years.
She was a member of the Methodist church.
In addition to her husband, she leaves three daughters, Mrs. Dwight Addy and Mrs. Ward LeCocq of Winterset and Mrs. LeRoy Munrow of Cicero, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Norwood Brooker of Winterset and Mrs. Herman McCoy of Glenwood.
Funeral services were held this Tuesday from the First United Methodist church of Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Newton Coughenour. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
