Funeral services for Dorothy Sears, a former Winterset resident, were held Saturday afternoon, Nov. 13, from the Chamberlain-Fisher Funeral home at Adel.
Rev. Paul Bousfield of Winterset officiated. Burial was in Ellis Cemetery.
Dorothy B. Sears, daughter of Bates and Emily Sears, was born April 5, 1889 in DeSoto, Iowa, died November 9 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines at the age of 87 years.
When very small her parents moved to Missouri, but returned when she was seven years old.
She attended the Sears country school and the Earlham academy at Earlham.
She was a member of the Methodist Church.
She had lived in Winterset nine years and at the time of her death was making her home at Villa West Care Center here. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving relatives are cousins, Fred Prohaska and Lucia Mueller, Earlham, Iowa, Lucian Prohaska, Iowa City, and Josephine Prohaska of West Des Moines.
