Former Macksburg resident Had Worked at Hospital Past 22 Years
Neal F. Rowe of Knoxville, a former Madison county resident, died at the U. S. Veterans hospital in Des Moines Monday, April 7th at the age of 60 years. He had been employed at the Veterans hospital in Knoxville for the past 22 years.
A son of William and Maria Herr Rowe, he was born on a farm northeast of Macksburg, Oct. 4, 1890. He grew to manhood in this county and lived here until he enlisted in World War I. He served with the 110th infantry of the 28th Division in the states, and overseas with the group that left from Madison county.
On March 27, 1933, he was married to Minnie Rittierodt of Melbourne, and they are the parents of one son, Gordon.
He is survived by his wife and their son, Gordon of Knoxville, two step children, Mrs. Elsie Shoop of Canton, Ill., and Richard Rittierodt of Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. Oren Knight of Lorimor, and a brother, Maurice D. Rowe of Washington, D. C.
Funeral services were held last Thursday, April 10th, at a funeral home in Knoxville, and later in the day at the Methodist church in Macksburg, with burial being made in the Moon cemetery.
