Harry B. Scott Was Veteran Of Spanish-American War
Harry B. Scott of St. Charles died Sunday, Feb. 13 at the age of 92 years. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War.
Mr. Scott was born in Carroll, county, Illinois on April 14, 1873, a son of Charles F. and Harriett Barnes Scott. He was educated in Illinois, attending Carthage college. He came to Iowa with his parents and they settled near Truro.
He was married at St. Charles Jan. 9, 1907 to Mattie Johnston. She preceded him in death as did also their infant son.
He was a member of the English Lutheran church, the Masonic lodge and O.E.S. being the oldest member of the St. Charles Masonic lodge. He served in Co. L, 49th Iowa Volunteer Infantry during the Spanish-American War.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Dale Potter; three grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Feb. 16 from the Kale Funeral home at Truro, in charge of the Rev. James Nicholson. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
