SARAH A. FRANCIS

Mrs. Sarah A. Francis, wife of John Francis, and formerly a resident of Winterset but who for a number of years has resided in Ellensburg, Wash., died in that city Saturday, March 13, 1908.

The remains will be brought to this city for interment at Rock City cemetery.

Mrs. Francis has a son, Calvin Francis, living at Earlham; her other two children, Will Francis, and Miss Emma Francis, were with her at the time of her death, and will accompany the body to Winterset.

Obituary

Sarah Jane Tullis was born in Dark county, Ohio, Feb. 19th, 1833. She was married to John Francis in the autumn of 1853, and lived in Ohio until the year of 1872, when they came to Iowa, locating in Madison county, where they made their home until the death of her husband, which occurred March 24th, 1884, at the age of 56 years. She had been a widow 24 years. She resided in Winterset from that time until Nov. 15th, 1901.

She was only ill four days when death claimed her. She was a faithful hopeful Christian, having united with the Christian church in her young womanhood, in Dallas, Dark county, Ohio. She leaves two sons, Calvin L. Francis, of Earlham, and William, of Ellensburg, Washington, and one daughter, Emma, also of Ellensburg, Washington to mourn the loss of a consecrated mother.

The remains arrived here from Washington, Thursday morning, accompanied by her son William, and services were held at the Christian church, conducted by Rev. E. E. Bennett, after which they were laid to rest beside her husband in the Rock City cemetery.
