WESLEY R. AGAN DIES SUDDENLY

Winterset Realtor Stricken by Heart Attack Here Monday

Wesley R. Agan, widely-known Winterset realtor and former farmer, died suddenly here Monday, Feb. 18, of a heart attack. He was 59 years of age, and had suffered from a heart condition for several years.

Mr. Agan was a native of Indiana, where he was born in Orange county on Sept. 1, 1892. He was a son of James W. and Nancy Smith Agan. As a young man he came to Iowa, settling first in Marion county, where he was married at Attica, on Nov. 17, 1915, to Mildred Cooper. They were the parents of two children, a daughter preceding him in death.

Mr. Agan brought his family to Madison county in 1917, and this continued to be his home until his death. For many years, he farmed near Peru, but moved into Winterset in 1946. For the past five years he had engaged in the real estate business in Winterset, in association with Alf D. Danforth.

He was a member of the Methodist church. He was affiliated with the Masonic lodge at Peru, was active in the Winterset Lions club, and was associated with the Iowa State fair board as an assistant in the admissions department.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Everett Agan of Peru; four grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Agan of Peru and Lawrence and Lee Agan of New Albany, Ind.; and three sisters, Mrs. Clarence Blake of Iowa, Mrs. Ora Wright of Paoli, Ind., and Mrs. Ruth Jones of Milltown, Ind.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Winterset Methodist church, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Glenn Parrott. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery, with Masonic rites.
