Marilyn A. Schmidt, Winterset

Marilyn Ann Schmidt, 54, of Winterset died of ovarian cancer June 16, 2000 at her home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday June 20 at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with the Revs. Steve Koch of Winterset and John Epperson of Grinnell officiating. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery, Grinnell.

Marilyn Schmidt was born May 23, 1946 in Grinnell to Lester C. and Emma Katherine Anna (Graff) Luttman. She was raised in the Grinnell area and attended school in Newburg. She graduated from Grinnell High School in 1964. She married Terry L. Schmidt on July 12, 1964 in Grinnell. A resident of Winterset since 1991, Marilyn had been a customer service representative with Farm Bureau in Des Moines. She also had been employed in the banking industry. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset and was active with the church Bible study group.

She was preceded in death by her father.

She is survived by her husband; her mother, Emma of Grinnell; two daughters, Susanne Sedoris (husband Randy) of Lincoln, Neb. and Lori Madison (husband Ken) of Monett, Mo.; two sisters, Lola Simmons (husband Claire) of Malcom and Doris Jones (husband Paul) of Brooklyn; two brothers-in-law, Tom Schmidt of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Steve Schmidt of Ankeny; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund in Winterset.
