JOHN ADAMS DIED HERE ON TUESDAY

Resident of Madison County for 38 Years Was 85 Years of Age

John Q. Adams, a resident of Madison county for 38 years, died at Memorial hospital Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the age of 85 years. He had been stricken Saturday with a cerebral hemmorhage.

Mr. Adams had retired and moved into Winterset in 1944, after a life-time spent in farming in Warren, Marion and Madison counties. He was born in Marion county Sept. 15, 1866, a son of William and Jane Adams. He was married to Martha Bell Lucas at Dallas on Oct. 27, 1888. They lived for many years in Warren county, before coming to Madison county in 1914.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Oren Adams of Winterset and Virgil Adams of Macksburg; two daughters, Mrs. Leta Adams of Red Oak and Alma Adams of San Francisco; 14 grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Nora McCoy of Melcher and Mrs. Bertha Smith of Dallas.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 3:30 p.m. from the Richards Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Avil Smith, pastor of the Pleasantville Methodist church, assisted by the Rev. Glenn Parrott, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
