Aletha Sanders, Winterset

Graveside services for Aletha Sanders, 92, were held Sat., Oct. 19 at St. Charles Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Gardner of Des Moines officiating. Mrs. Sanders died October 16 at Winterset Care Center South where she was a resident.

Born December 30, 1898 in Keswick, she was the daughter of Ira and Jessie (Hallett) Crawford. She graduated from Panora High School and attended College at Wichita, Kan. A St. Charles resident 1925-1986, she was a school teacher, taught piano and worked at the family drug store in St. Charles. She was a member of the Eastern Star at St. Charles where she was a past worthy matron and the St. Charles Parish Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband in 1979 and a brother.

Surviving are a daughter, Virginia Stadelhofer and husband, Fred of Berkeley, Calif.; a son, Bob Sanders of Denison; a sister, Vida Johnston of Nebraska, a daughter-in-law, Jean Sanders of Denison; a niece; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
