Services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Anderson Home for Funerals in Winterset for Mrs. Ellis C. Bane, 91.
Mrs. Bane died on Dec. 23 at the Memorial hospital.
She was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on Sept. 25, 1860, as Leila Belle Hipsley. She grew to womanhood in West Virginia, and was married to Ellis C. Bane on Oct. 28, 1885.
In the spring of 1889 the family moved to Polk county, Iowa and settled on a farm in Madison township of this county where they made their home until Mr. Bane died in 1938.
Mrs. Bane then moved to Winterset, and has lived here ever since.
She has been a member of the United Presbyterian church.
Surviving are one son, Jessie L. Bane of Huxley; one daughter, Elizabeth Davis of Earlham; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Hipsley of Oak Ridge, W. Va., and Harry Hipsley of Cameron, W. Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one son.
Officiating at the services was the Rev. S. C. Picken. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

Lelia B. Hipsley was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on September 25th, 1860. She grew to womanhood in her girlhood home and was married to Ellis C. Bane October 28th, 1885. She passed away December 23rd, 1951 at the age of 91 years, two months, and 28 days, at the Memorial hospital in Winterset.
In the spring of 1889 the family came to Polk county, Iowa and settled on a farm near Altoona, which was their home for many years. In the spring of 1902 the family came to Madison county and settled on a farm in Madison township, where they made their home until the passing away of her husband on February 16th, 1938. She moved to Winterset in the spring of 1939 and has lived in Winterset ever since.
She has been a member of the United Presbyterian church for years and of late years because of age and her afflictions has not been able to attend, yet was interested in her church and was always happy to be counted one of its members.
She leaves to mourn her passing, one son, Jesse L. Bane of Huxley, Iowa; one daughter, Elizabeth Davis of Earlham, 10 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
Also two brothers, Charles Hipsley of Oak Ridge, West Virginia and Harry Hipsley of Cameron, West Virginia, besides many other relatives and friends.
Her husband and one son preceded her in death.
The funeral services were held at the Anderson Funeral Home, Winterset, Wednesday, December 26th at 2:00 p.m. Minister in charge, Rev. S. C. Picken, D.D. Interment in the Winterset cemetery.
