JAMES ROUSH OF WINTERSET DIES

Retired Farmer Had Lived in Peru Community Many Years

James F. Roush of Winterset died Saturday, April 16, at Memorial hospital here. He was 68 years of age, and had been in failing health for many years.

Mr. Roush was born in Marion county on July 18, 1891, a son of Frank and Ellen Brown Roush. His early life was spent farming in Marion county. He came to the Peru community in 1945, where he farmed until 1957, when he moved to Des Moines. This March 1 he had moved to Winterset.

Mr. Roush is survived by his wife, the former Blanche Decker, to whom he was married in 1914. He also leaves two sons, Donald Roush of Des Moines and James Roush, Jr. of Waco, Texas; four daughters, Mrs. Vernon Houseman and Mrs. Wayne Curnes of Des Moines, Mrs. Elmer Tatten of Ft. Dodge and Mrs. Weaver Porter of Peru; 16 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Willard Roush of Des Moines and Will Roush of Knoxville; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Emerson of Knoxville.

Funeral services were held this Wednesday morning from the Richards Funeral home in charge of the Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Graveside services and burial were held at Laurel cemetery in Des Moines.
