HELEN WALLACE, Winterset

Helen Marie Wallace, 86, died Dec. 25, 2006, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held on Dec. 29 at First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with Rev. Jim Howland officiating. Burial was held at Clark Cemetery in Madison County. Memorial contributions can be made to the family for future consideration.

Helen was born on Aug. 6, 1920, in Adair County to George and Clara (Andersen) Leander. She was married on Sept. 6, 1947, to Avery Macumber, who passed away in 1977. Helen later married Chet Wallace in November of 1980. Helen spent most of her lifetime in Madison County. In her earlier years, she was active in 4-H. She was a member of the Ord Church in Madison County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, second husband and a brother, Raymond Leander.

She is survived by her son, Phil Macumber of Winterset; step-children, Vic Wallace of Jackson Tenn., Jim Wallace and Gayle Wallace, both of Mt. Vernon; a brother, Denny Leander of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Velma Weeks of Winterset and Betty Vorrath of Creston; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel & Funeral Services in Winterset.
