MARY LOUISE PETZNICK, Oklahoma

Mary Louise Petznick, 89, formerly of Creston, died Dec. 28, 2006, at her home in Norman, Okla.

Funeral services were held on Jan. 2 at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston, with Rev. Dan Moore officiating. Burial was held at Graceland Cemetery south of Creston. Memorials will be established in her name.

Mary Louise was born on Jan. 29, 1917, the daughter of Louis Hughes and Mary Gittins Pine. She graduated from Atlantic High School in Atlantic, received an undergraduate degree from Grinnell College, and a Masters degree in music education from Northwestern University. She was married to Harold Jay Petznick on Dec. 22, 1946, in Muscatine. She taught music lessons privately, directed church choirs and taught at public schools, Creston Junior College and Southwestern Community College.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Leon Gittins Pine.

She is survived by three children, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Arrangements were handled by Powers Funeral Home in Creston.
