David Ross, Winterset

David Leroy Ross, 67, of Winterset died Sept. 13, 2003 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the First Christian Church in Winterset with the Rev. Joan White officiating. Burial was at Eppard Cemetery, Jackson Township, Madison County.

David Ross was born Oct. 5, 1935, to Floyd and Pauline (Cochran) Ross of Macksburg. He was united in marriage to Juanita Sprunger on June 30, 1957 at the Early Chapel Christian Church in rural Earlham. He had worked 25 years for O'Callaghans, Inc. in Clive. David was a member of the First Christian Church in Winterset and Winterset Alcoholics Anonymous (founding member with 25 years of sobriety).

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald Ross and Clair Ross.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita Ross of Winterset; five daughters, Teresa Chapman of Adel, Marcia Ross of Dallas Center, Jean Miller of Stuart and Jane Strong and Shelly Smith, both of Winterset; two sisters, Doris Harper and Dorothy Harper, both of Peru; a brother, Dean Ross of Eldon, Mo.; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Christian Church or the family.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
