Clare Smith, Dexter

Funeral services for Clare Smith, 83, of rural Dexter were July 30 at the Fairview Congregational Christian Church in rural Stuart. The Rev. George Thurman of Stuart officiated with burial in the Fairview Cemetery of rural Stuart. Mr. Smith died July 27, 1994 at his Dexter home.

Clare Thomas Smith was born in Union County Feb., 2, 1911 to Thomas G. and Vernica (Bunce) Smith. He married Eloise Mae Hoadley on August 3, 1940. He was a lifelong farmer.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother and one sister.

Surviving relatives include his wife; three daughters, Judith Lents and husband Larry of rural Dexter, Joyce Lemon and husband Larry of Orient, and Jeanne Carter and husband Dale of rural Winterset; one sister, Wilma ‘Sis’ Adamson and husband Harold of Greenfield; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Fairview Congregation Christian Church in Stuart.
