Mary Thompson Rogers, Portland, Oregon

Mary Thompson Rogers died Thursday, August 27, in Portland, Oregon. Memorial services were held in Portland on Monday, August 31.

Born April 26, 1909, in Madison County, Iowa, she was the daughter of David Hickman (Hick) and Emma Arvilla Thompson. She was raised in Madison County and graduated from Winterset High School in 1926. She married Lincoln H. Rogers on August 24, 1928. To this union five children were born: Beverly, Roy, Delores, Don and Larry. The family resided in Des Moines, Iowa until 1941, when they moved to Vancouver, Washington. In recent years, Mary Rogers resided in Portland, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by one son, Roy, who died in infancy; one brother, Glenn; and one sister, Clara. Mary Rogers leaves four children surviving; Beverly Urbane of Fallbrook, Calif.; Delores Rasmussen of San Diego, Calif.; Don Rogers of Portland, Oregon and Larry Rogers of Concord, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, Clarence Thompson of rural Van Meter.

Mary T. Rogers

Memorial service for Mary T. Rogers, a resident of Portland for more than 30 years, will be at 3 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Good Samaritan Hospital.

Mrs. Rogers, a native of Winterset, Iowa, died Thursday at the age of 72 in a Portland hospital. She had retired from the University of Oregon Dental School.

Survivors include two sons, Don, of Dunsmuir, Calif., and Larry of Concord, Calif.; two daughters, Beverly Urbanc of Fallbrook, Calif., and Delores Hylton of San Diego, Calif.; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family suggests that remembrances be contributed to charities.
