IRA GIBBONS DIED LAST WEDNESDAY

Monroe Township Farmer Succumbs at 82 Years of Age

Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon in Lorimor for Ira Gibbons, well-known Monroe township farmer.

Mr. Gibbons died Wednesday, April 18 at a Winterset nursing home. He was 82 years of age.

He was born in Madison county on Sept. 13, 1868, and lived in this county all of his life until six years ago he retired and moved to Lorimor.

In November of 1897, he married Bertha Bernard, who survives. Other survivors include three nephews, Truman Gibbons of Murray, Walker and Ora Gibbons, both of Texas.

An infant daughter, Helen, died in infancy.

Mr. Gibbons regularly attended church and Sunday school services at Barney.

Officiating at the funeral was the Rev. O. E. Richardson of Murray. Services were held in the Lorimor Christian church, with burial at Barney.
