Thursday, October 18, 1951YOUNG FARM WOMAN TAKES HER OWN LIFE
Mrs. Robert Haxton, 30, took her own life Tuesday at her farm home five miles west and north of Pitzer.
Mrs. Haxton was alone in her home at the time. Mr. Haxton and their four year old son were working in the feed lot. When they returned to the house at 11:00 a.m. they found her dead in an upstairs bedroom with a .22 automatice pistol in her hand.
County Coroner Paul Eggleston was summoned to the scene with Sheriff Letz and Deputy Clair Boyd. They indicated that an inquest would not be necessary.
Mrs. Haxton was the former Janice Knipe of Cherokee. She served as a Wave in World War II. After the war she and her husband came to the farm where they were living at the time of her death.
