1980Estherville Rites For Lelia Rogers
Lelia Mae Rogers of Villa West Care Center died Thursday, May 22 at Madison Memorial Hospital at the age of 93. Mrs. Rogers had lived in Winterset 11 years, having moved here from Estherville.
Born on Dec. 24, 1886, at Dunlap, Ill., she was the daughter of Reed and Matilda Yates Byers. She was united in marriage to Elmer B. Rogers on Aug. 1, 1907 in Pekin, Ill. He preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 1975. Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Estherville Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Lois Williams of Winterset; 10 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Otto B. Rogers; her parents; and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24 at the First Christian Church in Estherville with Rev. James Harmon officiating. Burial was at the East Side Cemetery at Estherville.
