1959John R. Rogers of Winterset died at Veterans hospital in Des Moines this Tuesday, May 26, after several years of failing health. He was 41 years of age.
Mr. Rogers was born in Madison county and spent his life here. He was born here June 2, 1917 a son of Charles and Belle Hatfield Rogers.
He served in the U. S. armed forces during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was married Nov. 23, 1947, to Clella Peterson of Winterset who survives him.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Olga Belle; a son, John Jr., his mother, Mrs. Belle Rogers of Winterset; three brothers, Elmer Rogers of Oakdale, Clair Rogers of Orient and Leslie Rogers of Coos Bay, Ore.; and four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Jeff of Glencoe, Mo., Mrs. Fern Davis of Hillsboro, Mo., and Mrs. Aletha Miller and Mrs. Esther Rusk of Aurora, Colo.
Funeral services have been set tentatively for this Friday at 2 p.m. from the Richards Funeral home here. The Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church, will conduct the services. Burial will be made in Winterset cemetery.
