OBITUARY

Alpha Willis Callison, eldest son of Woods B. and Delilah A. Callison, was born in Fulton county, Illinois on December 6, 1867 and departed from this life September 8, 1951 having attained the age of eighty-three years.

Mr. Callison came to Madison county, Iowa with his parents in 1884. On October 13, 1890 he was married to Linda Artha Bertholf and in 1893 moved to the farm in Douglas township where the remainder of his years were lived. Three children came into this home: Dale A., Elma S. and Ira W. The wife and mother entered into rest on February 2, 1918.

On November 22, 1922 Mr. Callison was married to Iva Belle McKibban. He was a member of the Early Chapel Church of Christ in which organization he served in an official capacity for many years. He took an active part in the school district where he resided having served twenty-five years on the School Board. He was devoted to his occupation and kept abreast with all the improvements that developed in the agricultural field. He took great pride in his home and its surroundings and spent many happy hours tending his garden, flowers and ornamental plantings.

Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Carroll F. Leeper of the Penn Center community, two sons, Ira W. Callison who resides on the homestead in Douglas township and Dale A. Callison of Winterset, three grandsons and two great grandchildren together with one sister, Mrs. John A. Seiler of Winterset, three brothers, J. I. Callison and W. C. Callison of near Winterset and C. W. Callison of Howard, Kansas. One brother, E. V. Callison, is deceased.

Memorial services were conducted by the Rev. Glenn R. Parrott from Richards Funeral Home on Tuesday morning, September 11. Interment was made in the Earlham cemetery.
