Alvin Dale Rogers, 54, of Orange, California, died in his home of cancer on Oct. 12, 1997. Memorial services are Oct. 18 at the Grace Baptist Church with John Safford officiating the 1:30 p.m. services. Cremains are to be buried at a later date in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Madison County.
He was born in Des Moines on Dec. 4, 1942 to Clair Winfield and Nola Faye (Killion) Rogers. On Oct. 1, 1963, he married Charlene Roberts at Santa Ana, Calif. He lived in the Macksburg and Winterset areas until graduating from high school. He taught vocational training in the Orange County, Calif. district and was a former diesel mechanic for International Harvester. He was also a member of the Marine Corps, and served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Fellowship Church in Madison County.
He was preceded in death by his father; one brother; and one sister.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Charlene Rogers of Orange, Calif.; his mother, Nola F. Rogers of Macksburg; one son, Darren Rogers of Orange, Calif.; two daughters, Anita Rogers of Orange, Calif., Yvette Rogers and husband Jim of Orange, Calif.; one sister, Roberta Silverthorn and husband Fred of Macksburg and 2 grandchildren.
