Alice Rogan, Winterset

Mary Alice Rogan, youngest daughter of an old pioneer family, James and Julia Welch Rogan, was born June 16th, 1890 at their farm home in Douglas township, Madison County.

She attended a country school near their home and has been a life long member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winterset.

After the death of a brother and sister, she maintained the farm home until ill health forced her to retire to a nursing home where she has remained for nearly eleven years.

She died at Bethesda Care Center, Winterset, on Thankgiving Day at the age of 92. (d. 11-25-1982)

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Charles, James and Waldron Rogan, two sisters, Jesse Perkins and Elizabeth Perry and nephew Colward Perry.

Surviving are a niece, Charlotte Flannery of Winterset, Paul E. Perkins, a nephew, Green Bay, Wisc. and a sister-in-law, Eva Rogan of Winterset and several grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Catholic Church, conducted by Father M. Schulte. Burial was at Stringtown Cemetery near her old home, where four generations of the Rogan family are buried.
