Eva Manders Rogan, youngest daughter of Joseph and Hulda Neal Lanning Manders, was born in Madison County, near Patterson on July 1, 1902.
She lived in Madison County all of her life, attending the same rural school in Jefferson township for eight years. She graduated from Earlham High School in 1920 and began her teaching career that same year in rural schools and continued to teach until her marriage to Waldron Rogan on June 10, 1926 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Winterset, at which time she became a member. Also she belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society. She resumed teaching again for a few years during the Korean War until some rural schools were being closed. After her husband's death in 1973 she remained on their farm for nearly five years until it was sold and she moved to her home in Winterset.
She died on the 31st day of July 1989.
Preceding her in death were her parents, three sister, Mabel, Carrie Addy and Mari Jo Niendorf and two brothers, Frank and Clarence Manders.
Funeral services will be held August 3, at 10:00 a.m. from St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winterset with burial at Stringtown Cemetery where four generation of Rogans are buried.
Scripture service will be at Collins Funeral Home at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2.
Survivors are two nephews and seven nieces.
Memorials are being accepted to the Lillard-Miller scholarship fund.
