JOHN HARRELL DIED LAST FRIDAY

Funeral Rites Held Monday From First Baptist Church

John Harrell, member of a well known Scott township family, and a resident of that community most of his life, died Friday, April 20, at the Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 76 years of age.

Mr. Harrell was born in Marco, Ind., on Aug. 4, 1874, a son of John F. and Nancy Harrell. At the age of 3 years he moved with his family in Missouri. After two years there they came to Scott township in this county, where the remainder of his life was spent.

He was married in 1903 to Edith Smith. They engaged in farming in Scott township until his health failed. During the past four years he had spent the winters in Winterset with his niece, Mrs. Dick McCauley.

Mr. Harrell was one of a family of 14 children, all but two of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife; two sisters, Mrs. Candace Ruth of Winterset and Mrs. Elmer Stuart of New Virginia.

Funeral services were held Monday from the First Baptist church of Winterset, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. E. D. Rapp. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Stuart, Lonnie Stuart and Paul Stuart of New Virginia, Mrs. Lydia Young of Jefferson Floyd Deal, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Deal and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Brady, of Bagley, Orville Howard of Indianola, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Harrell of Truro, and Mrs. Theo Harrell of Peru.
