Wednesday, April 11, 1951MRS. CHARLES HUGLIN DIES AT 92 YEARS
Native of Germany; Was Long Resident of South Township
One of the oldest residents of the St. Charles community, Mrs. Charles Huglin, died at the Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset last Wednesday, April 4. She was 92 years of age and had been ill for the preceding 10 weeks.
Mrs. Huglin was the former Sophia Schmidt. She was a native of Germany, where she was born Sept. 19, 1868. When she was 15 years of age, she came to this country with her parents.
She was married here to Charles Huglin on June 29, 1869. For many years they were well known residents of the community north of St. Charles. They were the parents of 10 children, one son dying in infancy. The death of Mr. Huglin occurred 10 years ago.
Mrs. Huglin was a member of the Lutheran church, but attended services at Blair chapel.
She is survived by six sons, Andrew J. Huglin of Pittsburg, Pa., Fred W. Huglin of St. Charles, Henry E. Huglin of Omaha, Carl A. Huglin of Ft. Dodge, George J. Huglin of Buffalo Lake, Minn., and August R. Huglin of St. Charles; three daughters, Mrs. George Brown of Winterset, Mrs. James Luke of Winterset, and Mrs. Warren Conway of Whittier, Calif.
Funeral services were held last Saturday from the Anderson home for funerals in Winterset in charge of the Rev. Glenn Parrott, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Blair Chapel cemetery.
