WILLIAM R. WEEMS RITES HELD MONDAY

Veteran of World War I Dies at Hospital in Knoxville

William R. Weems, former Webster township resident, and a veteran of World War I, died Thursday, April 5, at the Veterans hospital in Knoxville. He was 64 years of age.

Mr. Weems was born in Dallas county Dec. 2, 1887, a son of N. H. and Annie T. Weems. In 1901, he moved with his parents to a farm in Webster township.

During World War I, he was inducted into the U.S. military service May 13, 1918, and was honorably discharged on Nov. 21, 1918. After returning from service, he farmed for several years in Madison county. He became a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints early in life. He was a member of the American Legion and the Masonic lodge.

Nearest surviving relatives are his brother, David Weems, and his brother-in-law, Eph Manning, both of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by Asa E. Smith. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery, with military ritual conducted by Green Rogers post of the American Legion.
