Funeral services for Kenneth Franklin Rockey, 85, of St. Charles were held July 3 at the St. Charles Parish Church in St. Charles, with pastor Jim Patrick of Indianola officiating.

Rockey died June 30 at Winterset Care Center North of a heart ailment.

A Peru High School graduate, Kenneth Rockey was born May 27, 1907 to Frank and Mary (Barclay) Rockey in Altoona, Penn.

He had two wives, both of whom preceded him in death. On June 24, 1928, he married Fern Hope. The couple had two daughters, Carolyn and Joyce. On May 24, 1977, Mr. Rockey married Esther Torey.

A retired John Deere employee, Rockey also worked as a custodian at Drake University in Des Moines from 1975 to 1977. He lived in Des Moines prior to moving to St. Charles in 1982, where he lived until he moved to the Winterset Care Center a little over two years ago.

Mr. Rockey was a member of the Peru United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 43, A.F. & A.M., Winterset and a member of the Za Ga Zig Shrine Temple.

Survivors include his two daughters, Carolyn and Jerry Austin of St. Charles and Joyce and Jack Lull of Organ, N.M.; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives and a brother, Harry Rockey.

Burial was in the St. Charles Cemetery. The Kale Funeral Home of Truro was in charge of the arrangements.
