THOMAS WILLIAM SLATON, Truro

Thomas "Tom" William Slaton, 17, of Truro died Oct. 21, 2001, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with the Revs. Joan White and Dennis Shepherd officiating. Burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery.

Tom Slaton was born July 29, 1984, in Vincennes, Ind., to John Harrison and Sandra Lee (Graham) Slaton. He was a senior at Interstate 35 High School in Truro where he had participated in cross country and track. He also had been employed as a flooring specialist at Menards in Des Moines. A resident of the Truro and St. Charles areas since 1991, he had previously resided in Adel and Pennsylvania. Tom was a member of the Truro United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, his maternal and paternal grandfathers and his great-grandparents.

He is survived by his mother, Sandra, of Truro; a sister, Melissa L. Slaton of Orange City; his grandmothers, Darlene Graham of Winterset and Kathryn Slaton of Madison, Mo.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
