Merlyn G. Sinn, 72, of Martensdale died of lung cancer Jan. 2, 2002, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 5, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery.
Merlyn Sinn was born April 17, 1929, in Madison County to Andrew and Blanche (Bruce) Sinn. A resident of Martensdale since early childhood, he had worked 38 years for Firestone as a fork lift operator and in other areas of the plat, retiring in 1990. An Army veteran of the Korean conflict, Merlyn was a member of the United Rubber Workers Local 310, St. Marys American Legion and the Martensdale Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores, of Martensdale; four daughters, Carla Wingfield of Morton, Ill., Connie Sinn of Woodward, Carmin Miller of Remsen and Karen Peterson of Council Bluffs; a brother, John Sinn of Minot, N.D.; two sisters, Bernice Keller of New Virginia and Donna Sinn of Des Moines; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
