Rollie R. Robbins, Des Moines

Services for Rollie Russell Robbins, 32, Des Moines, who died Sunday, Dec. 3, at the emergency room of Mercy Hospital Medical Center after suffering a heart attack, were held Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 5, at Hamilton's Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial was at Montpelier Cemetery in Patterson.

Mr. Robbins was born in Boyton Beach, Fla., on Nov. 2, 1957. He had lived in Des Moines since 1987 but grew up in the town of East Peru and graduated from Winterset High School in 1977.

He was a paint mixer for Iowa Paint and had held part time jobs in the Winterset area during high school including helping put up hay for farmers, doing construction work on bridges and working at Grip Tite Manufacturing. He joined the Marine Corps in 1977 and was honorably discharged at the rank of lance corporal in 1983.

He returned to Winterset and worked at the McGinleys Super Valu. Mr. Robbins was active in Boy Scout Troop 110 of Peru and reached the Star rank. He wrestled in high school and attended the United Methodist Church in East Peru.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, William and Rose Marie Robbins of Winterset; his mother and stepfather, Yvonne Marie and Bill Ober of Carlisle; a stepmother and stepfather, Virginia E. Stuart and Lewis Haines of Winterset; sisters, Marie Deaton of Des Moines, Beverly Jenks of Orilla and Dawn Robbins of Des Moines; stepbrothers, T. J. Driscoll of Pampa, Tex., Tim Driscoll of Grand Prairie, Tex., Joe Driscoll of Norwalk and Jim Driscoll of Carlisle; maternal grandparents, Russell and Goldie Robbins of Norwalk; maternal grandparents, Lelia and Roger Brightman of Des Moines; paternal grandparents, Rollie and Ruby Rollins of Patterson; and stepmaternal grandparents, Ronald and Lois Stuart of Winterset; stepsisters, Tamara Buono of Kankakee, Ill., and Sarah Haines of Winterset.
