J. A. CORKREAN DIED THURSDAY

Extended Period of Failing Health Ended for Well-Known Farmer

James A. Corkrean, a well known Madison county farmer for many years, and a veteran of World War I, died last Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines.

Mr. Corkrean had been in failing health for several years. He was taken to the Des Moines hospital Thursday, after being a patient at the Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset since Jan. 13.

Mr. Corkrean was 60 years of age at this death. He was a native of Lewisburg, West Virginia where he was born, July 16, 1890, a son of James and Mary Corkrean. He came to Iowa in 1916, and this county had been his home since then. He served in the U.S. army during World War I.

He was married in 1922 to Frances Kirvin of Winterset, who survives him. He also leaves eight children, John Corkrean of Cumming, Phillip Corkrean of St. Charles, Mrs. Carl Neal of Des Moines, and Eugene, Mary, Sue, Patrick and Larry Corkrean, at home. He also leaves six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Angelo of Charleston, W. Va., and Mrs. Sue Sullivan of Richmond, W. Va.; and two brothers, Phillip Corkrean of Lewisburg, W. Va., and Charles Corkrean of Beckley, W. Va.

Funeral services were held Saturday from St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. J. J. Judge. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
