FORMER EARLHAM RESIDENT DIES

John Riser of Altoona, died Saturday, July 15, at a Des Moines hospital, after a short illness.

Mr. Riser was born at Clermont, Iowa, Dec. 28, 1886, the youngest son of John and Maria Hunziker Riser. He was educated at Clermont and Earlham schools. In 1907 he was united in marriage to Mabel Ticknow who preceded him in death in 1943. Shortly after their marriage they joined the First Prebyterian church of Earlham where Mr. Riser retained his membership until his death.

Two sons were born to this union, Wayne Riser of Washington, D. C. and Wilbur Riser of Winterset. There are two granddaughters Jo Ann and Judy Riser.

He was one of ten children, five of whom survive him; Albert Riser, who is making his home in Winterset, Carrie Follett of Clermont, Bertha Imboden of Winterset, Lydia Wilkie of Madrid and Evangeline Gilbert of Earlham.

Mr. Riser lived the greater part of his life in the community of Earlham where he and his brother Albert farmed together. In recent years they have lived on their farm in Altoona.
