Laurence Harvey Rinner, 95, died Jan. 13, 2004 at Winterset Care Center South from complications of pneumonia.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 17 at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with the Rev. Bill Branson officiating. Burial was at Ellston Cemetery.
Laurence Rinner was born Jan. 28, 1908 in Clarke County to George Laurence and Mary Blanch (Miner) Rinner. On Oct. 22, 1929, he married Nellie Marie McMillion in Macksburg. He grew up in Clarke County. As a young man, he lived in Manitoba, Minn., and then moved to Ellston, where he resided for 20 years. In the late 1960s he moved to Perry, living there until 1999 when he moved to Winterset. Laurence had been a farmhand for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Fred Wayne Rinner; three brothers, Marvin Rinner, Archie Rinner and Donald Rinner; a sister, Maymie Ward; and two great-grandchildren.
He is survived by three sons, Ronnie Rinner of Yale, Charlie Rinner of Creston and George Rinner of Orient; four daughters, Mary Etta Dillenburg of Fontanelle, Neb., Alice Dillenburg of Mt. Ayr, Jeanne Thompson of Frederick, Colo., and Nita Spencer of Winterset; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
