Services for Ida Mae Ridout, 79, Winterset, who died Aug. 17 at Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held at Collins Funeral Home Aug. 20 with the Rev. Clarence Lautt and Rev. Eldon Cole officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
Born Aug. 30, 1907 in Madison County, she was the daughter of William R. and Mary Rose Villier Stephenson. She was a homemaker and machine operator for EMCO in Des Moines.
A lifetime resident of the county, she was past member and past matriarch of encampment of Rebekah Lodge. She was noted for her "grey panther" devotion to the rights of senior citizens and was appointed a delegate to the Council on Aging in Des Moines and Kansas City, Mo.
On April 14, 1926, she was married to Lloyd Ridout at the Methodist church in Winterset.
Survivors include her husband; sons, Harold of Kamiah, Idaho; and Gerald and Philip, both of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a sister, Blanche Compton of Des Moines; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
