Harold E. Smith, 74, of Lancaster, Calif., died of congestive heart failure April 26, 1999, at Lancaster. A memorial service will be held May 15.
Harold Smith was born June 16, 1924, in Madison County to Harry and Edna Smith. A graduate of Macksburg High School, he grew up on a farm south of Winterset. Harold also served in the Air Force during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and a son.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Vicki Smith, Vonnie Smith and Sandra Benethy; and one sister, Ruth Phearman of Los Gatos, Calif.
