Funeral Services Conducted From St. Joseph's Church Wednesday
Catherine Hartley, member of a well-known Madison county family and a resident of the community nearly all her life, died early Monday, Jan. 29, at her home in Winterset. Death had come during her sleep. She was 82 years of age.
Miss Hartley was born in Omaha on Sept. 7, 1868, a daughter of Edmond and Catharine Hartley. At the age of one year she came with her parents to Madison county. They settled on a farm in Monroe township, where much of her life was spent. About 20 years ago, she moved into Winterset.
Near surviving relatives are her brother, E. D. Hartley of Winterset; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Carney of Winterset and Mrs. James Doud of Lancaster, Ohio.
Funeral services were held this Wednesday morning from St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. J. J. Judge. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
