GENE ROGERS SMITH, Rural Lorimor

Services for Gene Rogers Smith, 70, rural Lorimor, who died Aug. 26, 1985, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30 at the Macksburg Methodist Church with the Rev. Stanley Ganzel officiating. Burial will be at the Clarke Cemetery.

Born May 24, 1915 at Monroe township in Madison County, he was the son of Wilbur and Ruth Rogers Smith. He worked as a farmer and electrician and was employed by Circil B. Cashway.

A lifetime resident, he was baptized by Fellowship Congregational and was a 4-H leader for 10 years. On Dec. 1, 1937, he was married to Lois R. Denney in Madison County.

Survivors include sons, Jimmie of Naperville, Ill., and Denney of Watseka, Ill.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
