Dr. J. W. Macklin Services Were Monday

Services for Dr. J. W. Macklin, 71, blind Des Moines osteopath who died at home Saturday of influenza, were Monday at a Des Moines funeral home with burial in Glendale cemetery. Mr. Macklin practiced in Earlham for fifteen years before moving to Des Moines and had his office at the residence of Miss Hattie Hodson.

Dr. Macklin, who lost his vision as a result of a fall when he was 20, had been ill since February 13.

A graduate of the Vinton School for the Blind, the doctor learned braille and afterwards attended Still Osteopathic hospital in Des Moines.

Working his way through school by tuning pianos, Dr. Macklin graduated in 1909 and began practice in Anita.

In 1929 he went to Des Moines where he practiced until his illness.

Surviving are his wife, Mabel, 2126 University Ave., Des Moines, and a daughter and grandson in Kansas.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fry attended the funeral with Fred acting as pall bearer.
