CHARLES STILES DIED SATURDAY

Life-Time Resident of This County Was 75 Years of Age

Charles D. Stiles, one of Madison county's most respected citizens for many years, died Saturday, Feb. 25, at a nursing home in Fort Dodge. He was 75 years of age, and had been in poor health for some time.

Mr. Stiles was a life-long resident of the county. He was born Aug. 25, 1874, in this county, the son of Thomas W. and Mary Ann Stiles. His early life was spent near St. Charles and as a young man he clerked in stores at St. Charles, Patterson and Winterset. The last 20 years of his active life were spent in the employe of Madison county, in road and bridge work and at the county yeard. His home had been in Winterset for many years.

He was married in 1900 to Marthola Snyder of St. Charles. They were the parents of one son. The wife and mother died seven years ago.

He was a member of the Methodist church at Winterset, and the Masonic lodge at St. Charles.

In addition to his son, he leaves two grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. T. J. McGinnis of near Patterson, with whom he had resided the past few years.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Anderson home for funerals, in charge of the Rev. Oren Hall of St. Charles. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
