Member of Pioneer Family Died Last Week at Indianola
Mrs. Rhoda Schoenenberger, whose death Wednesday, Feb. 22 was reported here last week, was a member of a pioneer family in Madison county. The daughter of William and Martha Ogburn Fenimore, she was born March 27, 1865, in a log cabin three miles north of Peru. She was 84 years old.
As a young woman she was married to Joe Hiatt. They were the parents of four children, two dying in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. Velma Spaulding, dying about 10 years ago. The surviving daughter of this marriage is Mrs. Eulah Huff.
Her second marriage was to Anthony Schoenenberger. They were the parents of two children, Mrs. Muriel Anderson of Indianola, and Frank Schoenenberger of Des Moines. The husband died nearly 40 years ago.
In addition to the children, she leaves a sister, Mrs. Lillie Waechter of Winterset; a brother, Elmer Fenimore of Neosho, Mo., and two half-sisters, Mrs. Ora Creger of Truro and Mrs. John Essex of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Friday from the Peru Methodist church in charge of the Rev. E. W. Frohardt. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
