GILLES M. MOTHORNE

Gilles M. Mothorne was born in Indiana, June 4, 1840 and departed this life at his home in Peru, July 26, 1923 at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 22 days.

He was united in marriage to Mary Harris in 1861. To this union were born five children, three of whom have preceded their father in death. His companion was called to her reward Feb. 29, 1884.

For many years he had been a faithful member of the M. E. church. He was a soldier of the Civil War, belonging to the 40th Iowa Infantry.

He leaves to mourn his loss, two daughters, Mrs. Frances Porter of Peru and Mrs. James Thompson of Brookfield, Mo., and one brother, Wm. Mothorne of California, who is 86 years old; also 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a number of other relatives, and a wide circle of lifelong friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the home by Rev. L. B. Shannon and interment in the St. Charles cemetery.
