Page 1On last Saturday, at 5 o’clock p. m., occurred the death of Grandma Andrews, aged 85 years, and 19 days. Rebecca D. Woodsman was born in the state of New Jersey, in the year 1810, and died at Earlham, Iowa May 11, 1895.
The morning and noon of her life was spent near her birth place. In early adult life, she was married to Samuel Haines. This union was blessed by the birth of two children, both of whom preceded their mother in death. Some years after the death of her first husband, she was united in marriage to Hiram Andrews. Two children were born, Martha and John Andrews, both of whom survive her, and live in Earlham.
In 1865 they removed to Adel, Iowa, where Mr. Andrews died. Since 1880 she has been living with her daughter, Mrs. J. F. Irvin.
She has been a life-long Christian, being a member of the Christian church at the time of her death. She was highly esteemed by all who knew her, and though her summons came in the twilight of life, her days have been full of usefulness, and the world has been made better by her having lived.
Funeral services were held at the Friends church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. McCresh, Christian minister of De Soto. Burial took place in the Earlham cemetery.
