Millard W. Smith, member of a well known Madison County family died at his home near Lorimor, Tuesday, January 8th, 1963 at the age of seventy seven years.
Mr. Smith was born in Grandriver township in Madison county October 10, 1885, a son of James S. and Isabell Doty Smith. He continued to live in this community until 1915 when he bought a farm in Union county which haas since been his home.
He was married February 28, 1911 to Myrtella Cross. She died 16 years later.
He is survived by a son James Verl who has always lived wih his father and daughter Martha Izora now the wife of Ralph B. Denton of Thayer. He also leaves two brothers, Lewis and Jay Smith and four grandsons, Robert, Richard, Max and Dale Denton.
Funeral services were held Jan. 10 at Lorimor, with burial in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg.

Funeral services for Millard W. Smith will be held from the Watts Soll Funeral Home in Lorimor Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with burial at the Moon Cemetery at Macksburg.
Mr. Smith, who had been in failing health for several months, passed away at his home near Lorimor Tuesday morning, January 8th, at the age of 77. He was the son of James and Isabella Smith and was born in Madison county and spent his entire life in this area.
He was married to Myrtilla Cross who died in 1927. They were the parents of two children who survive; James Verle Smith of Earlham and Azora Denton of Thayer; two brothers Lewis Smith and Jay Smith of Grand River township and four grandsons.
