LAURA E. REHARD DIES AT 94 YEARS

Had Been Madison County Resident Since 1866

Mrs. Laura E. Rehard, who had lived in Madison county most of the years since 1866, died at the Peterson Nursing home in Winterset Saturday, March 21. She was 94 years of age. She had been an invalid since receiving injuries in a fall in 1938.

Mrs. Rehard was the former Laura Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Orice H. and Eliza Pizel Smith. She was born in Linn county on Feb. 14, 1859. In 1866, she came to Madison county, and with the exception of a few years in Nebraska, the remainder of her life was spent here.

She married John W. Rehard on Feb. 11, 1880. He died in 1904, and a daughter also preceded her in death.

She was a long-time member of the Methodist church.

She is survived by five sons, Ercie Rehard of Des Moines, Ed Rehard of Winterset, Oat Rehard of Colorado, Oll Rehard of Des Moines and Floyd Rehard of California. She also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Paul Kile of Prole; two brothers, Thomas E. Smith of Winterset and Earl Smith of Macksburg; two sisters, Mrs. Olive Bond of Winterset and Mrs. Inez Decker of Haxtum, Colo; and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Glenn Parrott. Burial was made in Pleasant View cemetery.
