Death of George Lorenz

George Lorenz, a well known farmer of Peru, died Saturday, August 31st, at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, at the age of 55 years. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Peru Methodist church, by the Rev. C. L. Thomas, of Tingley. Burial was in the Peru cemetery.

Mr. Lorenz is survived by his wife and four children, Lyle, Myrtle, Mildred and Edna. Beside the immediate family, there are four brothers and three sisters: Henry, of Hebron, Ohio; Edward, of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; Samuel, of Wadsworth, Ohio; Daniel, of Pleasantdale, Orange, New Jersey; Mary and Stephen, of Mt. Vernon; Mrs. Anna Campbell and Mrs. Bertha Alexander, of Marietta, Ohio. George William Lorentz

George William, son of Michael and Barbara Lorentz, was born in Washington county, Ohio, October 17, 1873, and departed this life at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, August 31, 1929, at the age of 55 years, 10 months and 14 days.

He moved to Illinois in 1896 and was united in marriage to Hattie Pearl Williams, at Ohio, Illinois, February 20, 1901. He moved to Madison county, Iowa, in 1903. There were born to this union four children, Lyle, Myrtle, Mildred and Edna, all of Madison county.

Mr. Lorentz came with his family to their present home in 1918, where they have since resided. He was converted in his youth and lived an honest, devoted Christian until the time of his death. In recent years he had served on the official board of the Peru Methodist church, being superintendent of the Sunday school part of the time. He was well respected by all who knew him.

Beside the members of the immediate family there are left to mourn their loss four brothers and three sisters: Henry, of Hebron, Ohio; Edward, Mt. Vernon, Ohio; Samuel of Wadsworth, Ohio; Daniel, of Pleasantdale, West Orange, New Jersey; Mary and Stephen, of Mt. Vernon Ohio, and Mrs. Anna Campbell and Mrs. Bertha Alexander, of Marietta, Ohio, and many other distant relatives and a host of friends.
