Richard Reed, Prole

Richard Keith Reed, 68, of Prole died Feb. 24, 2004 of a heart ailment at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A family committal service of the cremains took place Monday, March 1 at Winterset Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Epperson officiating.

Dick Reed was born Oct. 17, 1935 to Walter J. and Neva Loraine (Silverthorn) Reed of Cumming. On June 25, 1957, he married Bonnie Green in Des Moines. He later married Patricia Dunlap on July 15, 1997 in Des Moines. Dick spent most of his lifetime in the Lorimor and Winterset areas, moving to Prole in 1997. He had been a welder and later worked part time for Kum & Go in Norwalk.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie; one son, Richard Reed Jr.; one daughter, Tina Reed; and a sister, Sandy Jacobs.

He is survived by his wife, Pat of Prole; two daughters, Valarie McDonald and Vicky Atkinson, both of Winterset; two stepdaughters, Karla Civatate of Des Moines and Kathy Anderson of Prole; one stepson, Don Koontz of Clive; a brother, John T. Reed of Winterset; a sister, Bobbie McNamara of Winterset; and four grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to his family. Arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel, Winterset.
