Hiram L. McCandless was born in Willington, Pa., April 9th, 1843, and departed this life Feb. 7, 1916, at his home near Bevington, Iowa.
He was a veteran of the civil war, enlisting in Co. N, 46th Regiment, Pa. Vol. infantry. He served his country three years, then he was honorably discharged.
He came to Iowa in 1865. He was united in marriage to Anna Mary Reed February 13, 1873.
When a young man he united with the Presbyterian faith and lived that faith until death.
He leaves to mourn his departure, a devoted wife, and three sisters: Mrs. Lizzie Reed of Rice Lake, Wis.; Mrs. Mary Downs of Hanley and Mrs. Martha Fulton of St. Charles.
