CLAIRE RANKIN OF DES MOINES DIES

Claire Rankin of Des Moines, a native of Winterset, died Wednesday, January 3 in Des Moines, following a stroke. He was 69 years of age.

Mr. Rankin was born in Winterset February 8, 1898, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Orval Rankin. His early life was spent here. For the last 28 years he had lived in Des Moines, where he was employed by Bolton and Hay restaurants.

He is survived by his wife, Nora of Des Moines; two sons, Murray Rankin of Des Moines and Joe Rankin of Grimes; a daughter, Mrs, Mary Lee Hindman of Winterset; 11 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two brothers, Wilbur and Frank Rankin of Winterset and a sister, Mrs. Maude Tough of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Hamilton Funeral home in Des Moines. Burial was made, with graveside services, in the Winterset cemetery.
