Jewell Ramsey was born April 8, 1898 in Union Township in Madison County, and died Sunday, Aug. 5, 1984 at the Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield. She was 85 years old.
She was raised on a farm near De Soto, the daughter of Finley and Hattie McCleary Addy. Jewell attended rural schools and helped with the farm duties.
She married Worth Ramsey on March 25, 1926. They lived on a farm in Madison county for the past fifty years. She enjoyed this life, and her cooking and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Bobby who died in infancy; sister Letha, and two brothers Ed and Everett Addy.
Surviving is her husband Worth; a son Hugh of rural Winterset; sister, Fern Addy Jackson of Winterset; niece France Ford of Vista, Calif.; and nephews Jack Jackson of Winterset and Maurice Ryan of Vista, Calif.
Funeral services were held at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield Thursday, Aug. 9 with Rev. Hubert Dahl officiating. Interment was at the Roberts Cemetery in Adair County.
